The diversity audit analysts who consulted on the Diversity Audit for NC Newsrooms did more than simply provide their own perspective of journalism diversity in North Carolina. They dug deep within their own experiences and the data provided to ask sharp questions, point out missing pieces and provide detailed advice.

Their analyst reports are included in full in the appendix of the research report. In addition, they were asked to make actionable recommendations for the news industry along three categories: for news employers; for journalism-support organizations such as journalism schools or trade organizations; and for journalists themselves.

The recommendations could be based on the analysts’ own experiences and expertise, the data packet from the survey or other information gleaned during the study process.
